Calathea ‘White Star’ (Goeppertia majestica), 17cm pot

One of the most striking of the prayer plants, 'White Star' carries dark green leaves finely pinstriped in white, often blushed with pink. Give it bright, indirect light and decent humidity, a kitchen or bathroom suits it well, and keep the compost evenly moist. Its leaves fold gently upward at night, just as they would on the rainforest floor.

• Dramatic white-pinstriped foliage with pink flush
• Bright, indirect light, avoid direct sun
• Loves humidity; ideal for kitchens and bathrooms
• Keep compost evenly moist (rainwater preferred)
• Supplied in a 17cm pot
