The cafe at Upcountry Scaynes Hill

Serious coffee, brunch worth planning a morning around, and bakes from Mona's that deserve a visit of their own.

Same kitchen, same welcome, new name

The Scaynes Hill cafe you already know is now called Roost. The kitchen cooks through the morning and into the afternoon: proper breakfasts, an all day brunch list, and a lunch board that changes with the day.

Open the same hours as the store: Mon–Sat 9am–5:30pm · Sun 10am–4pm.

The menu

Breakfast is served 9am to 12pm, brunch runs all day to 2:30pm. Gluten-free bread is available, just ask.

Lunch, from midday

The counter turns to lunch from 12: toasties, baked potatoes and lunch plates, chalked up on the day's board.

Coffee and cake

The bakes are by Mona's: Persian Love Cake, Carrot Cake, Pistachio and Cardamon Loaf among them. The coffee list runs from a straight cortado to matcha, Biscoff and cinnamon bun lattes.

    Chive and dill whipped cream cheese, smoked salmon, pickled red onion, cucumber, radish, lemon, rye. Poached egg +£1.50

  • The Rosti Stack £11

    Rostis, smashed avocado, tomato salsa, pesto aioli, poached egg
